Megan North Art!

My name is Megan, and for as long as I can remember my passion has been drawing and creating art. Starting in Kindergarten, I placed first in a gas station coloring contest. In Highschool, I placed first in the art show. I continued my art journey to the University of New Hampshire earning a Studio Art degree in 2011 (with an oil painting concentration). After spending many years working in a corporate environment, I started to miss my creative outlet.  I began creating  scratchboards and paintings for family and friends as gifts. This turned into custom art commissions which is how Megan North Art started.

Painting is a sense of meditation for me. Experimenting with colors and techniques fuels my passion and motivation. I consider myself a detailed-oriented person, shown in my scratchboard art. Painting is an escape and chance for experimentation. My inspiration stems from nature, animals, and fellow artists.

My scratchboards are inspired by black and white photos with noticeable highlights. My preference is to free-hand sketch the subject directly onto the scratchboard. My process for larger scratchboards includes; sketching the subject, tracing the image onto white paper, using transfer paper in-between the scratchboard paper and sketch, trace the subject with black pen onto both papers, with the goal of transferring the image to the scratchboard paper.
